When a new dog owner start to potty train his dog, he must have realized that the little puppy should have no conception about the owner and also it has no idea about the floors, room and carpet.

So one must clearly show the dog what he is expecting from it. This process should be done patiently, gently and also consistently. One important thing is that the puppy in his first two to three months will have a limited control over its bowel and bladder. That is why the puppy has to go outside more often which may be ten to fifteen times a day. There are some specific times when the puppy urge to relieve himself. The times when it urge to eliminate it show some symptoms. Firstly after waking up, the second time is shortly after drinking and eating some food and the third time is during or even after playing. There are some other warning signs when the puppy behaves in a restless manner, turning in a circular way and also it sniffing the floor or other things in the room. So when you will find these symptoms, you must stop everything and take him outside immediately. It is a common knowledge that your puppy will prefers to eliminate in such a spot where it was previously done. So you should teach him to eliminate at specific spot outside. You must have to decide the spot which will be best fitted for it. Not necessarily you should have watched for every moment. You can select a small room with the facility of bathroom in your house so that the place can easily be washed out.

You should start the potty training immediately after receiving your dog. In the first phase of this potty training, you must have to supervise your dog during maximum time in a day. You should not allow your dog to establish any bad habit. By following this potty training, you will be able to achieve a good result within two weeks. For making good habits, the most important thing is that you should give your puppy food at scheduled time. You should not allow your dog to take food at all times. Normally a dog should be given food three times a day. But it is not advisable to restrict water for drinking to the dog. After finishing the work like eating, sleeping it is advisable to go outside to your chosen area for its refreshment. For a gentle potty training one should call his dog in a calm and friendly voice repeatedly by the dog's name for several times. This will be very helpful for your puppy to understand your command and also to respond in a proper manner. Sometimes your dog makes cause to happen some accidents, and for that you never try to punish your dog. You just try to inform it that this should not be done. If you follow the above potty training to train your dog, it must be helpful for getting a well behaved puppy.
